Dummy Fort - Grain

 Dummy Fort

                                           Date: March
                                           Location:  Kent
                                           Abandoned or Public : Abandoned
                                           Delmoished: NO

I visited this place years ago and wanted to go back to see what has changed. Unfortunately, the fort is quite overgrown and not easily visible from the shorefront. However, it's still a very interesting place.

The fort, completed in 1865, was out of service by WW1. It temporarily served as an anti-aircraft defense system before being abandoned. The fort was badly damaged during demolition. It was equipped with a 6-inch rifle breach gun. In 1905, the fort was renamed from Grain Battery to Dummy Fort.

Grain Dummy Fort - Grain kent

The fort, completed in 1865, was out of service by World War I. It briefly functioned as an anti-aircraft defense system before being abandoned. During its demolition, the fort was significantly damaged. Originally equipped with a 6-inch rifle breach gun, it was renamed from Grain Battery to Dummy Fort in 1905.

Although navigating the site can be challenging, you can spend  about 30 to 40 minutes exploring, taking photographs, and filming. It's worth mentioning that the power station visible in the accompanying photo has since been demolished.
