Reculver, The Municipal Camping

 Reculver, The Municipal Camping

Date May | Location Kent | Abandoned

I was given this location by another explorer in the Kent area. There isn't much to this little find, as it primarily consists of toilet blocks for a campsite that used to exist there. Unfortunately, not much history can be found; a local informed me that it has been abandoned for over 20 years. It was a nice little stroll, even though I had to run really fast to escape a snake!

I discovered this little gem on Facebook and knew I wanted to visit it the next time I was in Reculver. So, we decided to spend the day in Herne Bay and parked on a side road. We took a 2.2-mile walk to Reculver, and along the way, we stopped at this pretty little church. Like most churches, they tend to look similar, but this one has been open to the public since the 1960s, as we learned from a book there.

This church is an Anglican church, built between 1876 and 1878; it was the second church to stand on this site.
