we pop over to Gravesend to play pokemon go  πŸ˜‚  and when we were over at Gravesend we walked past this blockhouse that caught  my interest, so I thought ill snap a few photos as it is not very big, the site was interesting to read 

So it said back in 1539 the Gravesend blockhouse was built as part of  artillery fortification, which was part of Henry VIII's device  plan, It was up and running by 1540, 
sadly by 1844 the block house was demolished , but between 1975-1976 it got uncovered by archeological excavations

Horam - Cuckroo trail - East Sussex

 We took a little drive up to Horam park of the cuckoo trail as it was the main bit we wanted to see, and with the weather still being a bit chilly we didn't really want to walk much of the trail, but driving to the disuse station the views was amazing, once we got there we did not really see many people maybe 1/2 people that was passing by.


it said  that the line opened in 1880, but in 1965 the line closed to passengers and only freight trains used the line until 1968 when it closed down completely

Shornemead fort - Gravesend

I have been to this before ( click here )  and have always found it an interesting place to go for some reason we was up early, so we thought we head over to Gravesend , was a nice 40 min walk down the saxon sure to the fort , once we was there it was pretty empty , but people waling by after 20 mins of being there kids turn up on there dirt bikes.



It said that fort is Now a disused fort  that was built in 1860, it was also said that it was built to protect the themes from see attacks,  it said it was disarmed between 1896-1907 , it was abandoned after ww2 and demolished in 1960s




























 


St Mary's Church, Eastwell Ashford

After doing are abandoned location that was only 3 mins away from this beautiful church, once we got to the church, there was a bunch of teens smoking weed ( at lest they were out of the way ) , they did go of in there own different way away from us , we spent a good 30/40 mins here just chilling out and looking around, there not much to see but the views are amazing.


It said that the site is grade 2 listed,
it said back in 1951 the church roof collapsed, In 1980 the FOFCC took over the church ,.

Secret tank testing site - Ashford

So just out of the blue we thought we drive up to Ashford for the afternoon it was not planned and check out the Ashford testing site, have to say getting in prob one the easiest sites I did, down site it fall off brambles so got attacked by them so much, we walked around the site undisturbed for about an hour, there seem to be some trees that been cut down recently so I wonder what Happing, the site felt really spooky, as there was police tap scatter around so make me wonder what might Happen


So it said that the army took over the area back in 1940 and the army trained there through the war,

It also said in 1942 the experiments begin to convert Churchill tanks,
