Bastion Matello Battery - Sheerness

Bastion Martello Battery

Date: July 2016

Location: Sheerness

Public or Abandoned: Abandoned

Demolished:  No

Today, we took a train to Sheerness as we were feeling bored. We stumbled upon the Martello Batteries, which are the center bastion of Sheerness, and are known for being used as part of Sheerness' defensive line. Although we couldn't find a way to get into them, we managed to take some amazing photos from the side of the beach. They were quite impressive to look at from a distance.

Shornemead Fort - Gravesend

Shornemead Fort

Date: September

Location: Gravesend

Public or Abandoned: public

Demolished:  No

Today, we decided to explore a fort that we had seen many times online. We were excited to see what it was like in person, but unfortunately, we were not able to fully explore it. The tunnels were flooded and inaccessible.

The fort was built in 1860 to protect the Thames from sea attacks. It was disarmed between 1896 and 1907, and was abandoned after World War II. It was eventually demolished in the 1960s.

West Pier Brighton

West Pier Brighton

Date:  September
Location: Brighton
Access - No,

I was having a bright tourist day and decided to take some photos of the pier. The information board stated that the pier was established in 1866, but unfortunately, it was shut down in 1975. Although the pier was designated as a grade 1 structure, it felt abandoned due to years of neglect. In 2003, an arson attack caused a fire on the pier, and over time, parts of it were dismantled, and the weather caused further damage..
