GraylingWell Hospital - West Sussex

 GraylingWell Metal Asylum West Sussex

Date:  September

Location: Chichester West Sussex

Demolished:  Yes

The construction of the hospital was completed in 1894. However, during World War I, it was repurposed as a military hospital. Only a few sections were used during World War II. By 1919, the hospital returned to civilian use and was renamed Graylingwell Mental Hospital. By 1920, the term "asylum" was no longer commonly used.

In 2001, the hospital was abandoned and later demolished. The site has since been transformed into a residential area, with half of it developed into houses, while the other half remains abandoned. While exploring the site, I was able to navigate easily through the abandoned portion and observe some of the remaining remnants. Unfortunately, most of the buildings were sealed off, so access was not possible at that time.
