RAF Lympne - Hythe

RAF Lympne

Date 9-06-2019
Location: Lympne

This was my first time visiting RAF Lympne, which is located right next to Port Lympne Zoo. Exploring this place was a unique experience, as I could hear the animals from the zoo while I wandered around. The exploration felt simple and easy, and it was also very relaxing.
RAF Lympne was built around 1916 and expanded in 1939. The site was used during both World Wars. It closed in 1946 but continued to function as a civil airport until 1984. Today, the site is home to the zoo.
