Canterbury Cathedral
Date: August | Location: Canterbury | Demolished: No
What can I say about this place? Just wow! It is so beautiful and amazing. I can't believe I had never been here before. There is a fee to enter the cathedral, but you pay once and can visit multiple times throughout the year. The place is stunning, though it does get really busy. It reminds me of something out of Hogwarts! The history begins with St. Augustine, who founded the first cathedral in 597 AD to turn Britain into a Christian nation. The cathedral is one of the oldest and most spiritual sites of the Anglican Church. In 1170, a murder occurred involving Archbishop Thomas Becket. Sadly, in late 1067, a fire damaged the cathedral significantly. During World War II, Canterbury was bombed, and the cathedral was a target. Even though it was hit, it survived.
