Grain Battery Tower - Medway

Grain Battery Tower

Date:   Jan 2015

Location: Medway

Demolished:  No

I've always wanted to visit Grain Fort, but I often misjudge the tide. That's what happened on my recent attempt. I managed to walk almost all the way out to the fort, but then the tide began to come back in, so I had to turn back to shore. Hopefully, I can revisit one day.

I've read that the fort is half a mile from the shoreline and was built around 1885. It was used during the Second World War and originally housed three guns in one of its rooms. In 2014, the fort was sold.
