                                           Location:  Chatham

                                                    Delmoished - No

We needed to get out of the house, so I thought I'd book tickets and head down to the dockside. They have a new game for the kids and my daughter loved it. She also enjoyed going on the boat. This time it wasn't too crowded, so we were able to explore it a bit better.

HMS Cavalier is a retired Royal Navy ship located at the dockyard in Chatham. It was used in WW2 and decommissioned in 1972.

Teston Bridge - Maidstone Pillbox

                                           Abandoned or Public : Abandoned
                                           Delmoished:  No

I had visited this place before in 2020, and not much has changed since then. It was quite simple and cute inside, with some graffiti. I was surprised to see that it was wide open. It was a hot day, so going inside was a nice relief from the heat as it was really cool inside.

Like most pillboxes, this one was likely built around 1940-1941 and used in the Second World War. Unfortunately, I'm not entirely sure about the specific type of this pillbox. I'm not sure about the specific type of this pillbox.

I came across another pillbox during my walk. This one was located near the oil mill house in the Teston Lock area. It was well-hidden, but I managed to find it. It's relatively clean, which is always good to see because you can get a better idea of what they look like.

Aylesford Pillbox - Kent ( Nr Aylesford bridge )

Aylesford

                                           Location: Aylesford
                                           Abandoned or Public : Abandoned
                                           Delmoished:  No

While I was searching for pillboxes in the Maidstone area, I decided to check on maps to see what I could find. I came across this pillbox and another one nearby. Unfortunately, this pillbox has been filled with loads of rubbish, which detracts from its charm.

It is located on a public footpath near Aylesford Bridge. Although I'm unsure of its exact style, I can assume that it was used in WWII and probably built around 1940-1941, similar to most other pillboxes from that time.

Riverside country park - Tug boat - Medway

I need to get my 4-year-old out of the house so I thought I'd head down to my local country park and go for a walk around Horrid Hill. As you walk around Horrid Hill, you come across this old boat that has been sitting there for years. The history of this boat is extremely uncertain. Overall, it was fun looking at the boat.

"To start my day, I went on a pillbox hunt and a walk. First, I checked out this cute little pillbox. Sadly, it was sealed, but I put my phone through the window and saw that someone possibly lived in it. The pillbox was tightly sealed from the outside, but at least it's being put to good use and not left to rot or be destroyed like most other pillboxes I have come across."

So like most pillboxes, this one was used in WW2 and was built around 1940-1941. It is in a casemate style.
