Visiting Fort Amherst is free for the public; however, there is a small fee to access the tunnels, which I have not explored yet. A trip to Fort Amherst is a great way to spend a day with your family while you're in the Medway towns. Fort Amherst is one of several forts located around the Medway towns, designed to protect the docks from invasion. It is believed that Fort Amherst was constructed in 1756.
