Being semi-local and looking for something to do, we decided to check out the castle. I have to say it was pretty cool to see. It is noted that Eynsford Castle is a rare survival of an early Norman castle.

Sutton Valence Castle

I had another day of exploring local gems and came across this one. I must say, it was quite peaceful when no one was around. It’s said that the castle was built around the 12th century and served as a residence for over 150 years.

1066 battle of hastings abbey and battlefield

 1066 Battle of Hastings Abbey & Battlefield

Current : English Heritage site 

I visited the battlefield for a day, and I have to say, the site was bigger than I expected. It was still a lot of fun to explore. The information displayed mentioned that in 1066, King Harold and William the Conqueror clashed here.

Brown Folly Mines - AK FDQ

This was a revisit to the mines, and it was really cool! I ended up spotting things that I had missed on my first visit. We spent a few hours exploring and checking everything out. Even though these mines are easy to access, I was surprised at how clean and tidy they were. The mine is an average-sized Bath stone quarry and was part of Monkton Farleigh. The War Department converted part of the mine into ammunition storage.
