"This exploration was relatively easy, but we had to be quick so as not to disturb the homeless people living in these tunnels. We walked into the tunnels and looked around the smallish space. There wasn't much of interest, but we did find some cool posters from the past still on the walls, which was nice to see. Other than that, there wasn't much else in there aside from dust."y
It is said that the tunnels would have been built at a later date in the war. The underground structure would have included a telephone exchange and a small control room. It was estimated that it would have cost around £1000 and taken 3 months to construct.
