Folkstone - Crete Road West ( 2nd ROC post) - Kent

For some reason, I have been pondering this location for quite some time, and I finally got around to exploring the ROC post. Since I was already in the area, I thought I would check it out. I was expecting it to be locked, but to my surprise, it wasn’t. It looked like someone had removed the hatch. Like most ROC posts, this one was empty, except for a bit of graffiti and a post with a chair. The sky was quite moody, and I really thought I was going to get caught in a storm while I was down there. Thankfully, it didn’t rain and held off just in time. This ROC post on Crate Road West is the second ROC post in Folkestone. It opened in 1960 and closed in 1991, like most ROC posts around Kent. Interestingly, it is also up for sale for £45,000.

WeWe were in the area with a group of explorers, checking out various locations we had pinned on our map. One of our stops was this abandoned ROC post. This ROC post is one of the cleaner ones I have seen during my time exploring these sites.

Like most ROC posts, it opened in 1960 and closed around 1991. This one is in slightly better condition compared to others I have encountered.

This ROC post was not even on our list of explores to do. We just happened to be nearby, so we thought we would check it out. This ROC post was a lot cleaner than other ones I have been in. It still had some cool stuff inside the ROC post, which was very cool to see. So, you did get the feel of how some people would have lived in the ROC post.

Like most ROC posts, this one was open in 1996 but sadly closed in 1991.

I went exploring in 2018 with some friends who are locals. We set out for a day of adventure around the Sheerness/Minster area. Our last exploration of the day was this lovely ROC post. It was very easy to get to and was wide open, so we went down the ladder and had a look inside. We were amazed to see that there were still things left inside.

The ROC post was in semi-good condition, but it was clear that it had also been used as a hangout for locals, most probably. Overall, the exploration was a good one.

This ROC post was opened in 1961 but closed around 1991, which is the same as most ROC posts around this time.

I explored this location as part of several visits that day. It was a quick and simple exploration since the inside was mostly stripped out, but it had the typical layout of most ROC posts. I think we spent about 10 to 15 minutes there before moving on to the next location.

Like many others, this facility opened in 1962 and closed down in 1968.
