The explore

We were passing through Sevenoaks & though we stop off at Otford Palace,

At first, we didn’t wanna get out of the car to make the 5 mins walk to the building because it was raining then we plucked up the courage, got out of the car, and put are 8 months into the bushbaby carrier and off we went,

Walking down to the Otford Palace was a nice little walk with few dog walkers & a little bit muddy lots of information bored around about the place

When we got up the ruins was surprised it was still attached to Someone house, overall the ruins are lovely ☺️

It said that place was talked about in a doomsday book and that all that remains is the old water tower

20 mins down the road from Otford Palace was some lovely woodland, in these woodlands are small ruins of what used to be an air-raid shelter ( remind me of a Twix bar from the distance “

We got out of the car and walk into the woodlands, was a lovely but muddy walk into the woods down the little air-raid shelter

The air raid shelter itself is just a holly out shell, with remains of other foundations around it.

When we got back to the car we managed to be the rain got admitted was a great feeling πŸ˜‚

a very little history is known on these gas towers but they have come to a common landscape around the UK after the gas holder was no longer required. most of the gasholders are waiting to be demolished with no date set in mind

this one stands at the strand in Gillingham and has become a landmark at the current time.

Fort Pitt Tunnels & Guardhouse - Rochester Kent

 Fort Pitt tunnels & Guardhouse

they say that the fort was built around 1813  but was used as a hospital in 1828 and then used for an "asylum " in 1847 it is said that in 1930 fort Pitt grammar school overtook the site,  and then in 1986 UCA Rochester was built losing what was left of the fort.

Living local to fort Pitt, iv known about the tunnels for a good 7 years but have failed to find the entrance on a number of occasions

In 2020 I got told that an entrance had been found and you can access the part of the tunnels, but I held off going for ages because it got very popular with other explores.

In Feb 2021, I finally went to the small part tunnels, because it had died down with other people going to it, get into the tunnels well that was an interesting one for sure but I’m gonna leave it there. Once inside I was surprised that a lot had been back filed in but there was still a decent amount to see, overall spent a good 30/40 mins in there taking photos.

The Guardhouse :
Well there is not much to say about the guardhouse & iv been before, but to my surprise, I was surprised to see it still open πŸ˜‚ This one is not that interesting only because it one room but made a good mooch.

sadly not much history can be found on these boats

with spring starting to kick in and the weather warming up - we wanted to go for a quiet walk down a Saxon way shore away from other people for our daily excuse, living within a 10-minute drive from Hoo Saxon way drive we hopped in the car and drove down.

iv know about the boats for years but just never took photos, so I thought this time I'll take some photos of the boats on my walk.

living within the Medway area you find there is lots of history that are left behind, why we were on our walk we also come across some pillboxes. two different types.

The walk itself was lovely and enjoyable.
