Canada House - Gillingham

This exploration is the third on our list today and marks the final successful venture we had planned. Overall, it was quite easy and straightforward.

Canada House was originally a Royal Navy hospital serving naval families since 1910. It later transitioned into an NHS mental health hospital but closed in 2019 and has remained empty since then. There are plans to convert it into flats.

 But I just thought ill take a little trip up to the fort on a semi raining day with my toddler just to get some fresh air, we walked around the fort and she got to splash in some puddles so she was happy

So it said that the barracks were named after William who was the 3rd son of George, It also said that the battery was used in the 19th century for royal saluting even after the fort became obsolete.

the battery was left for a long time before to become overgrown, but it got the go-ahead in later 2017/ start of 2018 to be restored and opened to the public

a very little history is known on these gas towers but they have come to a common landscape around the UK after the gas holder was no longer required. most of the gasholders are waiting to be demolished with no date set in mind

this one stands at the strand in Gillingham and has become a landmark at the current time.

since they have restored the stight i though ill go and check out the site and see waht it looks like now and i have to say they did do a really good job of it too.

Prince William Barracks is a component of Fort Amherst, but it has been allowed to fall into disrepair. It is said that in the 19th century, the battery was used for royal salutes.
