HMS Foward - Newhaven

HSM Foward

Date : 21-1-2019
Location: Newhaven
Access: No

We received a tip about this location, so we headed up there to see what it was about. We thought it would be hard to find, but it was hiding right in plain sight. Getting in was really easy; like most tunnels from World War II, it had the same layout.

According to the information we found, the site was restored in 1999 and became a historical interest site with public access, but unfortunately, that access was later discontinued.

HMS Wildfire Remains - Chatham

HMS Wildfire Remains

Date:  Feb

Location:  Chatham

Demolished:  No

There are two doors located in the moat just behind Mid Kent College. These doors lead to a large underground complex known as HMS Wildfire.

The specific purposes of the tunnels remain largely unknown. The photo below shows what is left above ground. It is believed that HMS Wildfire was constructed in 1937 and was utilized during the war before being abandoned. The site was forgotten and overgrown until the college took ownership of the grounds and rediscovered the doors.
