Drop Redoubt - Dover

 Drop Redoubt

 Date: June
Location: Dover
Public or Abandoned: public  ( Once a year )
Demolished: No

I first discovered drop readout back in 2017 when I first ever started my Dover Explore series, For Some reason I always seemed to miss the open days for drop Redoute and I kept telling myself I will get to an open day, I saw there was the open day this year ( 24/25 June) and knew i could make the 24th, so after going to a birthday party in the morning with my LG we then headed up to Dover to go drop readout. we got there late afternoon which was nice as there less people than there has been due to the day but the downside was the weather was stupid hot still, but the breeze was nice around the fort, my LG enjoyed walking around the fort too - it was £5 admission or £2.50 being English H members which is nice too. the fort was a bit smaller than I expected but still was good

so it said that Drop Redoubt is just 1/2 fort around the Dover western highest area, It said that the construction off the ort was done in 1804- 1808 ( Napoleonic wars ) and the second part of construction from the 1859- 1864
the fort was used in both world war 1 and world war 2 but was abandoned between wars , after ww2 the fort was abandoned permanently .

Unsure when English H took over the site, but it does say online In 2003 the Western heights preservation mange ths site with cleaning it up and open day on behalf of English H
