South Foreland Plotting room - Dover

This was the second location at South Forelands that we explored. Although it was similar to the previous plotting room, it was slightly smaller. The history of this plotting room is nearly the same as the last one, as both served similar purposes.

We had to obtain the keys from someone before we could enter the plotting room. All the other areas were locked, and it was cool to see inside, especially knowing we had permission to be there, so we didn’t have to rush.

This plotting room was known as the Fortress plotting room, which controlled all of their complement guns. It was apparently combined with a battery plotting room, which is why it was larger in size. This was one of the two plotting rooms at South Foreland.

This was my first time exploring the Z-Rocket, and I must say it was a fun little adventure. The climb down to it was enjoyable as well. Once inside, I found that most of the tunnels looked the same. It is said that the battery was manned by 165 men, and each tunnel had a connecting passage. One of these was used as a medical station

                              

Temple Manor strood

"We heard that Temple Manor was having its monthly opening, so we decided to check it out. It’s a small but wonderful hidden gem. According to available information, Temple Manor was built in the 13th century. The hall at Temple Manor was designed to provide lodging for travelers journeying between Dover and London."
