I tried to go to Grain Tower about three or four times before, but I kept being cut off by the tide coming in fast. However, one day we managed to time the tide right and headed out to the fort. It's about a mile walk, but the fort is an interesting place. Grain Tower is a mid-19th-century fort located in Medway, Kent. It was utilized during both World War I and World War II but was decommissioned in 1956. The fort remained abandoned until around 2014 when it was sold for approximately £400,000. Subsequently, the tower was put back up for sale and resold in 2023 for about £159,000.

I will never go back to this location again. Even though it was a fun little exploration, I could have died! The small beam I had to walk across to get to the other side was unstable, but it was still an interesting experience. It’s not every day you see something like this.

The company was founded in 1888 and specialized in carbonated soft drinks. By the end of 1890, the company had expanded and moved to a larger premises. It is also noted that by 1946, the company was bought and merged with another local firm.

Dymchurch Martello Tower

We took a trip to Dymchurch to visit the Martello Tower. These towers are located all along the coastline towards Folkestone and each one is interesting in its own unique way. This particular tower has been restored and is owned by English Heritage. The tower was built between 1805 and 1812 in response to the threat posed by Napoleon. These structures were classified as small defensive forts. The layout featured the garrison living on the first floor, while the main and storage rooms were located below.

Toys r us - Chatham

Unfortunately, I couldn't get inside Toys R Us, even though I walked around the site multiple times. Toys R Us was an American toy company that was founded in 1948. This location closed down in 2018 and has since been converted into a gym, Home Bargains, Aldi, and a swimming pool.
