We took a trip to Dymchurch to visit the Martello Tower. These towers are located all along the coastline towards Folkestone and each one is interesting in its own unique way. This particular tower has been restored and is owned by English Heritage. The tower was built between 1805 and 1812 in response to the threat posed by Napoleon. These structures were classified as small defensive forts. The layout featured the garrison living on the first floor, while the main and storage rooms were located below.
