 Eastgate House

Date: October 2022

Location:  Medway

Public or Abandoned: Public

Demolished:  No

Over October half term me and my toddler though we do the Halloween trail around Rochester where they collect little badges at each location
East Gate House was one the locations, on the trail , I have never been in East Gate House so I took this opportunity to go into East Gate House, I paid £5 something witch was a good price, and off I went ~ I was so surprised how big the house is on the side with hidden doors , and passages leading into other rooms , also how clean and well kept the house
I would recommend anyone to go visit if in the area

A bit history I found on web

So it said that east gate house is grade 1 listed building ,

its said it was built around 16th/17th century

the building had a £2.2m HLF to help restore the building as carfuly as possible with its oringal features

the second floor of the building was open to the public after beeen closed for more than 40yrs

Slough Fort - Allhallows Kent

Slough Fort

Location: Allhallows Kent

Public or Abandoned:  Permission Visit

Demolished:  No

Youtube Video: No

To end are weekend off with exploring we went on a tour of slough fort in Rochester, living local to the area, never really knew much about this fort but knew of it and always wanted to explore it - when I saw there was a tour - I booked up tickets,

i have to say getting to the fort was a bit different to most places we have been to as we had to park in the caravan park, and then walk up to the entrance to the fort and wait for a tour guide,

the tour it self lasted about 1hr and 30mins and there was only a small group of us and that was nice.

the guide of who did are tour was very informative of the fort and knew a lot about it too - have to say it nice that this fort has been saved and restored so people can visit the fort.

So it said that slough fort is a small fort located in Allhallows in kent, it was built in 1867, The fort was built in a D shape, it also said that 1912 the all the guns were removed from the fort, but due ww1 the fort was used as a command post, the fort was decommissioned in 1920 , and was sold off apparently in 1929

It said from 1960s it was used as stables but from late 2012 to the start of 2013 the camp funded the fort to be partially restored to where it is today.
