Elham Valley Line Trust - Folkstone

 Elham Valley Line

Date : October 2024
Location:  kent
Public/abandoned: public

My daughter and I have been exploring the Wheels of Time Trail, and one of the sites we visited was the Elham Valley. I discovered that my daughter has a keen interest in trains, which was delightful to see. There is so much interesting information around this site, and we even had the chance to ride on a mini railway.

According to the website, the site opened in 1889 but closed in 1947. The railway line was demolished around 1953. In 1984, the lovely trust was formed, and the railway reopened in 1990. From 1994 to 2011, they restored the barn and other parts of the countryside, completing the project in 2011.
