                                                              Public or abandoned - Public.

I had some spare time, and even though it was raining, I went on a mission to find this pillbox. I decided to check it out, but I was slightly disappointed because on the map it looked a little bit better. Nevertheless, the walk in the rain was fun, albeit a bit muddy.

So, this is a type Fw/322 AA pillbox.

While I was searching for other locations on Google Maps, I came across this cute little place. I was surprised to realize that I had driven past this area many times without ever stopping to discover what was around. When I finally took about 10 minutes to look around and take photos, I was shocked at what I had been missing. It was still a nice place to stop and explore.

So it is said that in 2019, an archaeological dig uncovered 18 acres and found a number of different items such as pottery kilns, roads, and a Roman temple dating back to 30 BC.,

Sittingbourne & Kemsley Light Railway - Kent

 Sittingbourne & Kemsley Light Railway

Date: September 2024

Location:  Kent

                                                              Public or abandoned - Public.

While doing the Wheels of Time trail with my daughter, we discovered a location on the WOF map. I noticed that it had its last open day of the year on September 29th, so we decided to visit. It was only 30 minutes away from Sittingbourne, and to my surprise, it turned out to be a little hidden gem. The return ticket from station to station was also very affordable. My favourite part was riding along the train on the track.

According to the information, the line was originally developed as an industrial railway in 1904 to transport goods from Ridham Docks to the paper mill in Sittingbourne, and later to a second mill in Kemsley in 1920. In 2010, the mill was demolished, and a Morrison's supermarket and skate park were built on the site of the old mill. The railway line reopened in 2012.

 Shellness Pillbox

Date: September 2024

Location:  Kent

                                                              Public or abandoned - Public.

I've been here before, but I wanted to go back and get better photos than I did last time. I also had some time to kill and wanted to make a TikTok video. So, I walked along the beach down to the command post. I have to say it was a nice little walk while the tide was out. I saw some interesting shells too, but we're not allowed to take any from that beach.

Not much history can be found on this pillbox/command post other than it was used during World War II, and the upper levels were for observation..

After dropping my 4-year-old off at school, I headed down to Allhallows and made my way to the beach. There, I came across a half-sunken pillbox, which was pretty interesting to see as it slowly sank into the seabed. You can access this pillbox at low tide, which is cool, so this time around, I made sure to check my tide times.

this pillbox is a type FW/24 pillbox and was used in ww2 , it was built between 1940-1941

I was in the city for a few hours and I kept meaning to take some photos of this building. This time, I made sure to grab some photos of the Regent. Even though I couldn't get into the building because 1) I had my 4-year-old with me, and 2) there was no way into the building...

lost village of dode - Kent

 Lost  Village of Dode

Date: September 2024

Location:  Kent

                                                              Public or abandoned - Public.

I saw that the Lost Village of Dode was having an open day, and I had wanted to visit for a long time. So, I took the opportunity to explore the little church and barrow on their open day. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by how cute and well-kept it is, and it has a strong Viking vibe to it. I definitely recommend visiting if you ever get the chance..

The place was said to have been abandoned over 600 years ago, but is now used for a variety of purposes such as celebrations, reflections, and more. It is described as a rare Norman building and has been restored to its original appearance from over 900 years ago. Villagers would have used the church for prayer. Unfortunately, in 1349, the village of Dode was destroyed due to the Black Death, leading to the abandonment of the building until 1901. A local antiquary restored the building, which survived both world wars. About 30 years ago, the ruined Dode church was put up for auction, but the owner decided to keep it as it is. In 1999, they obtained a license to host events such as weddings, farewells, baby welcoming ceremonies, and more.

I visited a cute hidden gem on the Wheel of Time trail known as the Medieval Center. It's surprising that more people don't know about it. The staff was polite, and my daughter even got to make a coin. We also explored the interesting upstairs area.
