Horsepower Well Remains

I've always lived near Mendway and have often passed by the area where this well with a horsepower sits. However, I've never taken photos of it until now. I have to say, it's quite interesting. Being a local, I think I've overlooked the local history.
It is said that the windmill was installed by Charles Dickens himself at Gads Hill around 1857. It was then brought to Rochester in 1973.
