Bastion Matello Battery - Sheerness

Bastion Martello Battery

Date: July 2016

Location: Sheerness

Demolished:  No

Today, we took a train to Sheerness because we were feeling bored. We came across the Martello Batteries, which serve as the central bastion of Sheerness and were historically part of its defensive line. Although we couldn't find a way to enter the batteries, we were able to take some amazing photos from the beach nearby. They looked quite impressive from a distance.

Shornemead Fort - Gravesend

Shornemead Fort

Date: September

Location: Gravesend

Public or Abandoned: public

Demolished:  No

Today, we decided to explore a fort that we had seen many times online. We were excited to see what it was like in person, but unfortunately, we were not able to fully explore it. The tunnels were flooded and inaccessible.

The fort was built in 1860 to protect the Thames from sea attacks. It was disarmed between 1896 and 1907, and was abandoned after World War II. It was eventually demolished in the 1960s.

West Pier Brighton

West Pier Brighton

Date:  September
Location: Brighton
Access - No,

I had a wonderful day as a tourist and decided to take some photos of the pier. According to the information board, the pier was established in 1866 but unfortunately closed down in 1975. Despite being designated as a Grade I structure, it appeared abandoned due to years of neglect. In 2003, an arson attack resulted in a fire on the pier, and over time, parts of it were dismantled, with further damage caused by the weather.
