St Columba United Reformed Church - Dover

 St Columba United reformed church

 Date: Jan 2023
Location: Dover
Public or Abandoned: Abandoned
Demolished: Yes ( Flats )

this was the last exploration of the day, and as we turned up the owner was leaving so we hop out of the car and spoke to the owner who let us in the building to have a look around, he was explaining to us by late 2023 the site will be flats, and he keeps the outside of the church, but he be rebuilding the inside of the church, the explore was pretty quick and simple as there was not much to see but the inside was interesting to see

back in 2007 the church sadly caught fire causing it to become disused, the site then was sitting disused for a long time and then had another fire, and in 2022 it was given the go-ahead to become flats.

after speaking to the owner in January 2023 the site is due to be flats in June 2023

2018 report

Just out of the blue we thought we would go down to Dover,  my friend hasn't been to the Cliffe complex before so we though we show her due to fact I was told it was a lot easier way to access than last time. the exploration was pretty simple and straightforward,  and we were in there for a while just taking photos  of the place and trying out some different photography, the place hasn't changed much since 2018

so it said that the site was due to the war, and st margarate beach was seen as a possible place for invasion so they had to make sure the site was well protected due to the war, The pillbox and tunnel system is still there to this date. it was also built to help the nr by gun placement as they would have been a target.

2014 report

Back in 2014, I visited the primary school but it was sealed apart from the hall across the Road, I finally got around to getting into the main building in 2023
The exploration was pretty simple and easy with no issue at all, Knowing the school and area pretty well makes things a lot easier, I drive past this prob a few times a month and have pretty much watched the school decline
Funny enough the side I did back in 2016 had no access but I'm glad I finally managed to see it all
History:
it is said that in 2005 the school closed down due to it merging with another school near. it was also said in 2007 the building was put up for auction.

I wanted to do north weald Bassett for a while now but for some reason just never got around to exploring the fort, Well to kick off the 2023 travels, we picked up friends ( one who is local to me.) And another friend who was staying near the fort and headed to the fort, we got to the fort around 1pm and it was pretty simple ( just very muddy), we made our way in and started to look around, halfway through our visit there was another bunch of people who was looking around the fort, we kept looking around and we were able to get into some parts of the fort, my mate who been before said it was flooded and showed me photos from when she went, but this time round it was still pretty dry ( knowing fact we had hella lot rain ) as we coming out the fort a family was coming into the fort

So it said that the fort is a rare survivor off London mobilization centers to help protect London, it also said it is a victorian fort and it was built on top the hill, it said it was late victorian

the site was used in ww1,and by 1919 it said the site was brought by a telegraphy company who bult a radio station, the site was also used in ww2 , It said in the 1950s the site was taken over by GPO but was decommissioned in 1990s
