I was excited to visit the St. Martin's Deep Shelter as soon as I heard it was open to the public. I jumped in the car and made the 40-minute drive to Dover, eager to explore the shelter because I knew I might not get another chance to see it. The deep shelter is located just behind the battery, and it has been constructed in a manner similar to the other deep shelters in the area, following the same layout.

a group of friends and I ventured into the old Gravesend Hospital. It was definitely an experience. First off, while exploring, we stumbled upon a homeless encampment and some drug paraphernalia. We also all saw the same figure or person pass by, but we were unsure of what or who it was. Additionally, we unintentionally scared a group of kids out of the building. Overall, exploring the building was interesting because at the time, there was still a fair amount left inside, but it was also quite trashed.


The building was sold by the #NHS for £2.3 million in 2018, but it has sat empty since then. There have been various plans to turn it into two or three-bedroom apartments, as well as other proposals. The building used to be a maternity unit, which closed in 2006, while the rest of the hospital shut down in 2004.,
