This was my second visit to Hilsea Lines, and I have to say that almost nothing has changed. It was still very cool to see. I even saw things that I didn't notice during my visit back in 2015. It's a simple little place to explore, and you will likely come across other people as it seems to be a hideout for local kids and other explorers.

So it is said that the fort dates back to the 18th and 19th centuries and was built to protect Portsea. It was also a crucial naval base in the area.

For the most part of the fort, you can explore the remains by walking around the

 sea lines. However, to see the casemates and other parts of the fort, you need to

 come off the beaten path. We found this out by mistake, but it was a lovely walk

 around the site.

The fort was built in the 18th to 19th century to protect Portsea, as Portsmouth

 was a key naval base during wartime..
