Dorking Deepdene 2021 - Surrey

Dorking Deepdene

Date:   October 2021

Location: Surrey

Public or Abandoned: Abandoned

Demolished:  No

Youtube Video Yes

I have been to this location before in the past ( 2018 report here )  but we were in the area visiting something else but went back to the deepene bunker to show one of our friends who had never been in an underground tunnel.

getting to the explore was pretty simple just had to take a long way round to the historical walk as they are now building a home at the bottom of the historical gardens.

getting into the tunnels was pretty easy, once inside was surprised how much of it has been trashed and it to looked so different from when I first explored back in 2018 - but when in the tunnels did bump into some local.

it is said that the tunnels had a control room, meeting room battery room, bedroom for the night staff, and a few other things to operate from. and that the tunnels were in used 24/7 -  when the tunnels stop operating is unclear

This place was really interesting, and the fact that you could walk right in was really cool to see, as places like this are rare and often heavily damaged. This bunker was used during World War II and was constructed within the caves. It would have housed 30 staff members at once in the emergency headquarters within the network of tunnels. The facility included a meeting room, a control room, bedrooms for the night staff, and other necessary amenities. The site was in use 24 hours a day.
