The location of the village dates back to the 12th century, though it was rebuilt in the 15th century. Today, the site is owned by the National Trust.

 

Visitors can reach the island either by boat or on foot, depending on the tide. During our visit, we had to take a boat due to high tide, which caused us to miss the crossing. The castle is a must-see and definitely worth visiting..

I don't have much information about the pillbox I discovered, as my online search didn't provide many results. 

I spotted the pillbox, or lookout point, from a distance and headed straight for it because I was eager to explore. The journey to the pillbox was interesting, although it required quite a bit of walking..
