 Air raid shelter

Date  Feb |  location Brompton | Delmoised  No

I was walking to town with a friend when we passed through Brompton, so I thought I would show them the air raid shelter, as they had never seen it before and didn't even know it was there. I have explored it before.

It is said that during World War II, the shelters were built to help protect civilians from air raids. The shelters came in all different sizes and types.

As I was passing through Brompton, I thought I would quickly check this out. I don't know much about it, other than that the moat leads to the reservoir. So, I wonder if it has something to do with the reservoir.

Broadwoods Folly - Box hill - Dorking

 Broadwoods Tower

Date: February

location: Boxhill

Delmoished: No

On my recent trip to visit family in the Box Hill area, we decided to stop at the Box Hill site itself and explore the many walking trails it has to offer.

Despite the weather being quite gloomy, the views were still beautiful. We took the most awarded route up to the Broadwood Tower, and the view from the top was amazing. I can only imagine how much better it would look on a clear day. We spent about 20 minutes there, taking photos, looking around, and having fun in the mud with my daughter.

This folly, made of flint, was built around 1815. The stairs and upper floor have been removed due to rot. There was also a tree that had been growing in the middle for around 50 years, but it has since been chopped down, leaving only the stump.

Postal Museum & Mail rail - London

Postal Museum & Mail Rail

Location: London

date: Feb

Delmoished - No

I had wanted to visit the Postal Museum for a long time, and I finally found the opportunity to go. I booked tickets for myself, my best friend, and my four-year-old daughter. My daughter and I took the train up to London, where we met my friend outside the train station. It was a short 10-minute walk to the Postal Museum.

We had a great time, and the highlight for us was definitely the Mail Rail. It was so much fun to explore some of the hidden train stations that were used on the mail line. The experience also provided a lot of interesting information. While the museum was enjoyable for us, I noticed that it was more geared towards kids, with many interactive exhibits that kept my daughter engaged.

The Mail Rail dates back around 500 years, but the museum opened in 2017 after a heritage trust took it over in 2004.
