Grain Dummy Fort - Grain kent

Grain Dummy Fort

Date:   September

Location: Grain

Public or Abandoned:  Abandoned

Demolished:  No

The fort, completed in 1865, was out of service by WW1. It temporarily served as an anti-aircraft defence system before being abandoned. The fort was badly damaged during demolition. It was equipped with a 6-inch rifle breach gun. In 1905, the fort was renamed from Grain Battery to Dummy Fort.
Although it can be challenging to navigate, visitors can spend a good 30-40 minutes here, taking photographs and filming. It should be noted that the power station visible in the accompanying photo has since been demolished..
