The Canterbury Roman Museum is a charming hidden gem located in the center of Canterbury. The staff is friendly as well!

The museum is considered a scheduled monument, and inside, you can find the remains of a Roman courtyard house that is listed as Grade I. This courtyard was discovered after bombings in World War II, and the museum opened to the public in 1946.

I had wanted to visit the Tower of London for a long time. Since we had some free time before my daughter had to go back to school, we decided to take advantage of the last few days of summer holidays and head over there. I had only ever seen the site from the outside, so I was surprised by how large it was on the inside and how much there was to do and see. The day turned out to be quite busy, and the weather was unpredictable—it went from raining to hot to raining again. I have to say, it was really cool to see the ravens up close too!

Wow, what can I say? This cathedral is stunning, and it was so enjoyable to walk around. The view from the roof is amazing! I have to admit, I didn’t enjoy walking up almost 600 steps, but the view from the top was worth it. The staff was also really friendly and helpful, which was nice.

The cathedral’s construction began around 604 AD, starting off as a small Saxon church. It later transformed into a Gothic cathedral on that site. Unfortunately, it was sadly destroyed by fires and Viking raids. The current design of the cathedral was created by Sir Christopher Wren in 1666 after the Great Fire of London. The building is Grade I listed.
