Ashford Train Museam

 Ashford Train Museum

Date May | Location Kent | Delmoished No

We were in Ashford, so we thought we would check out the train museum, which is another location on the Wheels of Time trail. When we arrived, I was a bit confused about where to go, but I eventually found it. The site is very small, but it is quite interesting, and they have some exciting model trains on display.

brook Rural Museam - Brook Kent

 Brook Rural Museum

Date May | Location Kent | Delmoished No

We headed to the Brook Rural Museum while we were in Ashford, as it is part of the Wheels of Time Trail. It’s one of the last few locations we need to visit to complete the trail. We happened to go on a day when there was an event happening, so it was really busy. There was an entry fee, but it wasn't too much, and this is to be expected to help with the upkeep of the site.

Overall, the site is really interesting, featuring lots of old farm equipment and showcasing the way of life from back in the day. The museum holds 700 years of history, including a 14th-century barn and a 19th-century oast house. It is described as a collection of history through the years, making it a fascinating place to explore.

A299 - Thanet way pillbox

 A299 Thant Way pillbox

Date May | Location Kent | Demolished No

I have always driven past the Thant Way pillbox whenever I go down the coast, so this time I decided to stop and take a look with my daughter. On the way home from our day out, we stopped to explore the pillbox. It was around 7 PM, and with the sun starting to set, the scene looked quite picturesque. Like most pillboxes, it followed a similar layout. I believe this one is a Type 24 pillbox.

St Mary the Virgin's Church, Hastingleigh - Kent

 St Mary the Virgin's Church

Date May | Location Kent | Delmoished - No |

I was in the area checking things out when I stumbled across this pretty little church. We parked outside and headed in. At first, it looked like the door was locked, but as we got closer, we saw it was open. According to the guestbook, someone had not long been there before us. The church is laid out similarly to most others, and it has the same vibe, but it's pretty in its own way. It’s said that the church dates back around 700 years and has been used for worship since then. The oldest part of the church is believed to date back to the Saxon period.

Kent Firefighting Museum

 Kent Firefighting Museum

Date May | location Kent | Delmoished - No

I discovered this hidden gem by chance on Google Maps, and I'm so glad I did! It's tucked away at the back of a garden center. The museum features several fire trucks from different eras, which are extremely interesting to see. There's so much history and memorabilia on display, showcasing how things have changed over the years. They even have a large, disused fire truck for kids to play on in their little park. The site is also very tidy, clean, and well-kept.
