RAF Long Marston Airfield .

R.A.F Long Marston Airfield.

We met up with some other explorers for a day of exploring and headed to R.A.F. Long Marston airfield to check out the planes that were sitting there. I had seen these online before, so I was really excited. I was not too impressed with getting soaking wet in the rain that came after the explore. We spent a good 1 or 2 hours exploring before a guy came over and told us to leave, which we did. I found out later that the planes had been sent to France to be restored, so there is a future for the planes.

Sadly, like most things, planning permission was sent in to build 400 homes on the site, which got approved. The airfield was used in World War II for training and closed around 1954.

History: Been closed for about 3/4 years now Meant to go into houses but plans have fallen though.

This was a quick visit and spear of the moment, it was not on my to-do list as I didn't even know the hospital was abandoned, and though it was still in use, getting in was easy  , once inside we look around the empty rooms , there was not much left in the site but the morgue  was the best part as the table slab was still there all in once piece,

It said that st bartholomew hospital was built in 1078 but closed down in 2016, The site had planning permission to build 155 homes, They have since restored the building to homes. so the site is no longer
