I recently went on a morning exploration at Showdown Colliery in Kent. It was quite challenging for me because I'm not a strong climber, but it was worth it to explore the buildings and see the amazing nature inside. As we were finishing up, the security finally arrived for their shift and let us out through the main gate.
The colliery has been closed for over 30 years, and it's unfortunate that 22 men died in a disaster when the shaft flooded with water. It's said that around 800 tons of coal were mined from this colliery.
