Rosherville Gardens - Northfleet / Gravesend

Rosherville gardens

Date: April 2016

Location: Northfleet - Gravesend

Public or Abandoned: Public

Demolished:  No

While exploring the AEI tunnels and the nearby factory, we decided to also visit the Roseville gardens. Even though not much of it remained, it was still interesting to see the bits that were left, although they were not easy to find. I must admit, I am a bit scared of heights.

We learned that the garden was built into a chalk pit that was previously owned by Jeremiah Rosher, which is probably how it got its name. From 1830, they began building the town that it is now a part of. According to the information we found, people once used to visit the gardens for recreational purposes, and there used to be a bear pit there.-
