New Brompton college Old school building - Gillingham Medway

New Brompton College Old school

Date:   Feb 2014

Location:  Gillingham

Demolished:  Yes

The school formerly known as Upbury Manor, now called New Brompton College, was built in the 1950s and went through several name changes over the years. It once had a swimming pool, but in 2005, the pool was filled in and replaced with a dance studio.

I attended New Brompton College from 2005 to 2010, during which time the school changed its name twice. In 2010, it became what it is known as today after receiving funding to become an academy. I remember being encouraged to set a good example for the school during this transition.

In 2014, I found information online indicating that the school was awaiting demolition. I had the chance to take photos inside the school and noticed that much of the work from 2010 was still on display. The classrooms looked the same, and it was a strange yet nostalgic experience to photograph the school and revisit a place where I spent much of my childhood.

CSA factory - Strood Medway

CSA factory

Date:  May 2014
Location: Strood Medway
Demolished:  Yes

While exploring my local town, I came across a large abandoned factory in the Strood industrial estate. At first, I was uncertain about its purpose, but later, I learned that it was a CSA factory. I didn't know what they produced or how their operations functioned. The factory itself was quite sizable, but unfortunately, it was in a state of disrepair, with trash scattered throughout the area.
