Dunkirk Chain Home Radar Station - Kent

Dunkirk Chain Home Raider station Date : April | Location Kent | Delmoished No I have known about this place for around 6 or 7 years, but I never visited because I was told that an angry farmer would come after me! A few months ago, a friend informed me that this wasn’t the case and that you could walk right up to it from the footpath. Fast forward to now: my daughter, who is almost 5, asked if we could go on an adventure to find some pillbox or ruins. I remembered this particular site, so we jumped in the car, parked by the footpath, and walked down to the well-trodden route leading to the chain home.  When we arrived, I noticed how graffitied and burnt out it was, and how quiet it felt (which wasn't surprising). We had a quick look around and even chatted with a local who mentioned that kids often hang out there as it’s a popular spot for them. Luckily, we must have gone on a good day, as no one was around.

Cosgrove Hall Northamptonshire

Cosgrove Hall, Date - April | Location Northamptonshire | Delmoised - Fire Damnged  This exploration was relatively easy  Unfortunately, the hall is in pretty bad shape due to a fire and the weather, as it is very exposed to the elements. The atmosphere inside the hall felt eerie and creepy overall, but it was still an interesting place to explore. This building is an 18th-century hall and is grade II listed. It is believed to have been built by John Lummy of Northampton. In 2016, a fire destroyed the building.

Oxendon Tunnels - Northamptonshire

oxendon tunnel Date April | Location Northamptonshire | Delmoished No  I was visiting my friend for the weekend with my little one, and this was the first location we decided to check out. It was about an hour's drive from my friend's place, but we were exploring other areas as well, so it wasn’t too bad. When we arrived, we parked the car and started walking (although we initially went in the wrong direction – oops!). Once we realized our mistake, we turned around and headed the right way. The walk wasn’t too difficult, but it was somewhat busy since many people were out enjoying the trail. Oxendon Tunnel is a disused railway tunnel located in Northamptonshire. The railway line opened in 1859 but was closed in 1981. The tunnel is now part of the Brampton Valley Way, which is a 14-mile route. Oxendon Tunnel and Kelmarsh Tunnel are the only two tunnels along this route.

A2 - Shorne Wood Country ParkAir-raid ( KENT )

Shorne Wood Country ParkAir-raid Date April | Location Kent | Delmoished No  I received this pin from another explorer. This is the only accessible air raid shelter, and it isn’t as large as I expected it to be.  There isn’t much information available online about this air raid shelter, but it was used during World War II.

Darnley Mausoleum - Cobham kent

Darnley Mausoleum  Date  April | Location Cobham Kent | Delmoished  No |  After seeing online that this little gem is open once a month from now until August, I decided to check it out. We parked in the village of Couham and walked straight to the mausoleum. Since we arrived a little early, we sat down for a snack while we waited for it to open. It opened a few minutes late, but that wasn't an issue. Once inside, we explored the mausoleum and then went down into the crypt on the other side. It was completed in 1786 at a cost of around Β£9,000, though it was not used for burial purposes. Unfortunately, in the late 1970s and early 1980s, the site was left abandoned and became an attraction for vandals. In the 1980s, a fire in the crypt caused the chapel floor to collapse and damaged an outer staircase. Thankfully, the mausoleum was restored and reopened to visitors in 2014.

St Mary the Virgin, Newington

St Mays The Church  Date  March | Location Newington |  Delmoished No  After checking out the pillboxes, we decided to head down to St. Mays Church to explore. I had seen this charming little church online a few times, so since I was in the area, I thought it would be a great opportunity to visit.  When we arrived, the church was open, and as soon as we stepped inside, the sunlight streaming through the stained glass windows created a beautiful atmosphere. The interior was surprisingly spacious, which was nice to see. I was also really impressed by the old drawings on the walls; they truly captivated me. The church has been here for almost a 1000 years ,
